Import and Customs Specialist

We are urgently hiring Logistics professionals with some import experience.
Key Responsibilities:
-Handles shipping and freight forwarding, customs regulation, and multiple -modal transport.
-FDA Customs paperwork.
-Tracking and Tracing all in transit Import & Export Shipments.
-Deal directly with the overseas vendors when needed for the new bookings, targets etc.
-Deliver a high level of customer service follow-up.
-Manage and track all shipments milestone/ timelines from origin to destination and communicate that information to both our teams & freight forwarders
-Coordinate shipments arrival processes & deliveries setup both domestic and international while adhering to on-time expectations
-Support Management when requested to create reports for assigned customers
-Verify and approve bills from Freight forwarder and make sure bills are paid on time without any delay.
-Maintain backup for all related charges for each shipment & provide the same to Account Payable for assigned freight invoices.
-Handle files from A-Z
-Arrange Trucker / Dispatch shipments
-Receiving and organizing all inbound and Outbound documentation related from all International Origin teams for all accounts
-Open files, issue arrival notices, audit carrier rate & Freight rate etc.
-Take care of export shipments and issue invoices to the Freight forwarder based on information provided by the planning team.
-Communicate with carriers, brokers and customers for problem resolution or customer service requests.
-Contact broker to ensure proper U.S. Customs Clearance.
-Reporting to Management on cargo tracking updates.
-Provide updates via phone, email, and Excel
-Update Internal System with all shipment details and status updates
Requirements:
-High school diploma/GED or equivalent degree required.
-2-3 years of experience in logistics, transportation and international freight forwarding, with focus on both Air /Ocean Import & Export shipments
-Experience in dealing with Freight Forwarders / Custom Handling agents/FDA compliance officers.
-FDA Customs experience preferred
-Strong working knowledge of MS Office Programs, including advanced Excel aspects such as VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and Graphs
-Basic knowledge of SAGE 200 or NetSuite is preferred.
-EDI operational knowledge is highly desirable, but not essential
-Knowledge about FDA regulations, and how to find out Duty / HTS etc. for new products will be an added advantage
-High achiever, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast paced, changing environment
-Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
-Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-Possess ability to build relationships with both internal and external teams
-Excellent telephone and email skills
